100 lbs lost !! Size 24 to size 10

This summer of 2006 will mark the 4th anniversary of my reaching my goal weight. In March of 1998 I began my low carb journey and in June of 2002 declared goal at 156 lbs, Size 8 and approximately 21% bodyfat. During maintenance not much has changed. I still follow the same plan I followed to get me to goal. I still don't eat treats, I don't have the monthly pizza night and I can't eat things that I had to give up along the way - even occasionally or on holidays.

Am I happy this way? You betcha I am !!!

On average I hold my goal weight anywhere from 154 to 157 lbs. There are days when the size 8 jeans are tight and days when they are comfortable.

Here is a photo of my husband and I in Mexico in April of 2004. I'm still holding my weight at goal (156) and it feels great to be able to do that even on vacations !

So many people ask me how I lost all the weight or make the comment "oh I could never do what you did". Like I'm different or have special talents. That is not the case. The truth is I'm lucky. Lucky to have met Adele S. who became my mentor and friend at just the right time in my life.

I was just like any other low carber out there following "the plan". Adele took me under her wing and challenged me to think outside the box and to stop listening to every little scrap of advice I got from who knows where and to focus on listening to my body. She made me face some hard truths and let me learn from my own mistakes when I needed to.

I don't know that I could have found such success without her guidance and ability to get me to see and truly understand the things I needed to.

Connie & Adele Summer 2005

I have such respect for her phenomenal understanding of people and her experiences at low carb. This is why I wanted to share her web pages with you. Read them and be willing to apply them to yourself. Don't be quick to say "I can't do that" or "this doesn't apply to me". Much as you might not want to admit it, it can apply to you. Adele and I are both living proof of that.

Happy Reading :-)
